Jack and Kathi

 
1979   Kathi Schmidt met Jack Salome, her future husband on a blind date in December, New Years Eve. Jack had two children who lived with him in Carper Navy Housing.  Kathi of course had Gary. He had spent about 10 years in the Navy at the time. His childrens names are Jennifer Salome and John Salome (both mentioned later in this website.) Kathi went a second semester to San Diego Mesa Community College in January. Tim and Lynda Corbett had a baby boy, Adam in June.

 
1980 We were married in the Church of the Nazarene in Linda Vista in July.  and Chuck and Donna Cox stood up for us. All of our children were in the wedding. Tim and Lynda Corbett had another baby boy, Nick in September. Jack and Pam were also divorced that year in February.

 
1981   Nine months and two weeks later Amber Salome was born in April.  Kind of a fluke really. John and Jennifer came and went from our home many times.We had many pets along the way. Jack had Snoodles and Tom when we moved in.  We got Pusan, a siamese cat in July.

 
1982 Jack was out to sea most of the time.

 
1983 Jack was out to sea most of the time. Tim and Lynda Corbett had a baby girl, Shannon in June. Don Burns married Karen Gust also in June.

 
1984 Kathi and the kids went to Michigan City to live while we waited for Jack to get his orders to move to Virginia Beach, VA Oceana Naval Base in May. We moved to Virginia Beach in October and then went up north to spend Thanksgiving with Jack's family. We met many friends in Virginia Beach.  Kathi was never wild about the place but I liked most of the people. Phil Salome married Christine Robinson, in December. Craig and Martha Shay had a baby daughter, Lindsay, in March.

 
1986 John Salome, III joined the Marines in September . We met our good friends Bruce and Char Greely and Stephie, Lisa and Ellen in June. I was a Girl Scout leader for Daisies and Juniors.

 
1987 Jack was out to sea most of the time. Don and Karen Burns had a son, Nathan, born in October. We got our first computer.  Never knowing that that computer led Gary to his livelihood of working on computers and learning to play a guitar. Kathi first logged on to Infonet and then Infoshare. This changed her life because she hated computers before that.  This BBS led of course later to the internet. I was a Girl Scout leader for brownies and juniors and I was the Service Unit Manager for Girl Scouts too.

 
1988  Judy and Mike Novitske had a baby girl, Stacey Novitske, in March. We met our good friend Robert (CB) Stephenson. We also met Mary Lou and Devon Norcross and her husband (now ex-husband) David.

1991 November, Jack retired after 20 years in the Navy, in November We had a retirement party for Jack and most of the guests were a huge surprise including his mother and father and his daughter from Massachusetts.  I moved ahead of him to Michigan City, IN, my home town.  He was in Desert Storm at the time.  Jack followed us and went to Purdue North Central College to finish his bachelors degree.  I worked many temporary jobs during this time.  We met our good friends Bill and Debbie Eckman, in June and her sons Loren and Terry. We first logged on to the Boilermaker BBS in September. We later met the Sysop, Lauren (Holtgreen) ..... Char and Dan Williams, Rocky Wozniak, and Jackie and Larry Weaver. Met up once again with my friend Janie Buchanan. She is married to Harry Nulf and has three kids, Candy, Shellie and Harry, Jr. (Bubba). Candy is now married to Steve Long and has three kids, Tyler, Jacob and ..... Shellie is married too and has one daughter...... Harry Jr. has one child.

 
1992 Jennifer's son, Matthew Mercier was born in June. During Thanksgiving in that year we met John's future wife Stacy Knox.  We loved her and approved immediately. Also that year in March, we got Teddy, a chow/shepherd mix, another fluke  Stephie Greely and Chris Ellis got married in August.

 
1993 John and Stacy married and Gary graduated high school in June. Don and Karen Burns had another son, Austin in January. Lisa Greely married Ray Williams.

 
1994

 

  Their daughter Ariel was born in Philadelphia in March. Amber had leg surgery in June. Also in May we got Ebony a Keeshond/? mix. Ebony of course is all black. In July, Gary joined the Navy. Erin Dowling, daughter of Michael and Barbara Dowling married Steven Groulx in April. Christopher Shay and Jenifer Suton had a baby girl, Courtney, in April. Pusan, our beloved siamese cat died in August. Lisa Greely had a baby daughter named Kayla in May.

 
1995 In June we packed up and moved to San Diego once again. John and Stacy and of course Ariel were moving to California too.  First we moved in a hellhole town of Romoland, CA, in Riverside County.  Then Jack, Amber and Kathi moved to San Diego in September, where we were headed to begin with, after Kathi got a job.  Also all in September we moved into a house that we rented on Larkin St. in Serra Mesa. Amber started high school at Kearny High School and Jack got a temporary job at the Convention Center.  Things didn't work out too well, to our chagrin in that house.  In November we got Sammie our Balinese cat. We love him dearly.  Also in October, Jamie Moss and Gary met and fell for eachother. They were both in the Navy. Jamie was stationed at Monterey, CA and Gary was stationed at LeMoore, CA. at Thanksgiving we met Jamie for the first time. Stephie and Chris Ellis had a baby daughter in September, named her Samantha.

 
1996 We moved to our current house in Kearny Mesa in March.  This way Amber could finish high school at the same place, Kearny High School, the whole 4 years. Sometime in that year John and Stacy moved to Irvine, CA. April Jamie and Gary got out of the Navy and moved to San Diego. Steve and Erin Groulx had a daughter, Monica in July. We logged on AOL and the internet for the first time in December.

 
1997 Jamie and Gary got married in July in Las Vegas. Jack and Kathi had many temporary jobs and then he settled down to one job at Sandi Kruise Insurance Training in June.  They downsized recently and he is looking for another job.

 
1998 On Valentines Day, Olivia Gomez married Tom Lewis in Las Vegas. In March, John got out of the Marines and he Stacy and Ariel moved to San Diego. They went on a six week vacation and Stacy came back pregnant. Kathi started working at her current job at United Security Products in October, 1998. Chris Shay and Jenifer Sutton married in October. Angelina Gomez had a baby in November. Her name is Isabella Rose.  Amber started working at Bird Crazy. Made friends with people at work, Sue Kinsey, Audrey Tennes, Pat Luedke, Linda Ulrich, Paul Mauro, Rey, Wil, Pete Hoppa, Alicia (Greene) Hoppa, Mary Greene, Ted Greene, Teddy Greene, Barbara Legge, Cora De Jesus, John Walsh, JR Walsh, Doug Carrington, Myrna Anderson, Nieves Aquino and all the guys and gals in the shop.
